FLAT STANLEY'S TRAVELS
Phew!! I finally made it from California to West Stockbridge, Massachusetts!! Sure was hot in that envelope!
I'm really glad Jackie didn't leave her post office box key at home!
Yippee!! Here's where they make the vanilla extract ' let's go inside!!
First, the vanilla beans arrive from the island of Madagascar (that's off the coast of Africa!) in tin boxes.
There must be about 50 pounds of vanilla beans in here!! Sure smells nice!!
This is the 90 year old copper percolator that the vanilla beans, alcohol and water are cooking in. Ouch, it's kind of warm!
Yahoo!! I'm riding the 115 year old barrel that the vanilla extract is stored in!
Now I'm helping bottle some of the vanilla extract.
Look at all of the different sized bottles that Jackie is filling! Here's the display case where we sell our extracts. . . not only do we make vanilla, but also almond, lemon, orange and much more!
This cash register is really, really old! No computer here!!
This is a big old safe and there's only one, big old key!
I'm helping fill out the UPS book - that's how we ship our vanilla orders all over the country!
Yippee!! I've graduated from the school of vanilla making!
